The Meghalaya --- One of the most beautiful state of India,which is also very famous as SCOTLAND OF EAST is famous for its own unique cultures,tradition,dresses,languages and cuisines.The Meghalaya food mainly consist of Rice and meat,fish or pork.

Among the various dishes of Meghalaya,JADOH is one of the popular dish in Meghalaya cuisines.

It is an authentic ethnic meat delicacy.
The word JADOH comes from KHASI language,in which JA means RICE and DOH means MEAT.
It is basically red rice cooked with pieces of pork,common among the khasi community.It tastes closer to biryani.

Preparation:

Oil is heated in flat bottomed vessels and onion,ginger,turmeric powder and black pepper is sauted.The tip of bay leaves are burnt then,the pork is fried until it turns brown,which is followed by simmering of rice.

Significance

The Jadoh is prepared either  in the oil of pork itself or also in the blood.The Jadoh when cooked in blood is known with the name of JADOH SNAM.

It has lost its significant popularity these days as it takes longer time to cook.So people find it more easy to eat it from the restaurants rather than preparing it at home.
